De Kloof Luxury Estate

All rooms have the same 5-star room facilities and amenities, and the same interior design. Rooms have added luxuries such as: over-sized duvets, high quality silk cotton sheets and blankets, pure cotton quality linen and ergo massage cushions, and private secluded patios.

Each room has its own private entrances and offers panoramic views. The rooms have a great mix of modern European-styled interior decor with a chic selection of African art.

Total capacity is 18 people, and the estate can be booked for exclusive use.

The estate offers scrumptious full cold and hot breakfasts which can be enjoyed with a glass of champagne.
Lunches, sunset snacks, tapas, cheese and wine platters and luxury picnic baskets are available. Drinks are available in the lounge and at the pool.

Fine-dining restaurants are within walking distance. The hotel offers room service and fully stocked in-room bars.

Swellendam is the 3rd oldest settlement in South Africa and is perfectly located along the N2, approximately 240 km halfway from both Cape Town and George on the Garden route. It is renowned for its eclectic architecture, fascinating history and great outdoor life. It is a perfect base from which to explore the Overberg area for a few days, and for hiking, biking, horse riding, bird-watching, beauty treatments and massages.

Activities to try include wine tasting at wine-houses along Route 62 Roberston (the longest wine route) and visits to Swellendam golf course and other surrounding golf courses.
River rafting and other outdoor activities can be enjoyed on the Breede River.

Get back to nature at Bontebok National Park and Grootvaders Bosch Reserve, De Hoop Nature Reserve (the best land based whale watching spot), and Cape Agulhas via Malgas river crossing (the last hand driven pontoon).

There are whale watching points and white sandy beaches at Witsand, and De Kloof can arrange a flight above the region. Try sunset cruises at Buffeljagsdam, outdoor river-sports, a historic national monument walk, and the award winning Drosdty Museum in town. See famous pottery, galleries and restaurants.

By Car:
From the N2 (Cape Town):
- On the N2, take the exit for Swellendam West.
- At the four-way crossing, turn right into the main street (Voortrek Street).
- Follow the road for approximately 3 km into the city centre.
- At the BP fuel station (right-hand side) and after the Spar (left side) turn left uphill and follow our signs.

From the N2 (George/Knysna):
- On the N2, take the exit for Swellendam East.
- Follow the road into the city centre for approximately 2 km.
- Pass the big white Dutch reformed-church which is on your right-hand side.
- Take the first turn right (opposite the BP fuel station) into Von Manger Street and follow our signs.

From the R60 (Robertson/Ashton):
- When approaching Swellendam, turn left at the four-way crossing into the main Voortrek Street.
- Follow the road for approximately 3 km into the city centre.
- At the BP fuel station (right-hand side and after Spar [left side]), turn left uphill and follow our signs.

The estate is not wheelchair friendly.
